Sony Announced the TX200V. Stylish, Glass Plated Waterproof Camera

Tech fans went drooling today when Sony announces that the replacement for the waterproof TX10 camera will be a 18.2 Megapixel glass plated TX200V.

The TX200V will have a GPS, a 3.3 inch touchscreen LCD and a full 1080/60p HD mode for recording videos.

The camera will also sport a new revamped autofocus system which Sony claims could work as fast as 0.1 second in daylight and mere 0.2 seconds in low light.

But while the camera’s reinforced glass front cover earns high marks for style, the camera’s fancy glass cover means it is as vulnerable to drops like an iPhone 4S. The flat front and back also means the camera lacks good grip for underwater shots.

The TX200V is expected to ship in March in silver, red, or violet and set to be around $499.

Let’s see. $280 on sale for nikon AW100 or $500 for this Sony — that like last Sony will have poorer low light, slow focus and poor quality/tone images.
