Fuji The First To Release New Waterproof Rugged Camera for 2012
Fuji today has unveiled 3 waterproof all weather digital cameras for 2012, ahead of the CES Expo in Las Vegas.
The top end FinePix XP150 is the only compact that comes with a GPS, electronic compass, and photo-tagging features. Joining the high-end rugged camera field, the XP150 is a little more expensive than its nearest sibling at US$279.95.
The second model, the FinePix XP100 lacks GPS but shares XP 150′s ruggedness. It is also waterproof to 33 feet (10m), shockproof to 6.5 feet (2m), able to withstand freezing weather right down to 14°F (-10°C) and is dustproof. This model will cost you US$249.95.
The last model is the FinePix XP50 – a replacement to the XP30 which didn’t do well last year. Priced at US$199.95, the camera is also rugged and could still work in extreme temperature. But it is only waterproof to 16.5 feet (5m) and shockproof to 5 feet (1.5m).
All Fuji’s 3 new tough cameras comes with a 14 megapixel CMOS sensor, a 5x wide angle optical zoom lens (28 – 140mm) with a reinforced hardened glass lens barrier and water repellent coating as well as CMOS sensor stabilization.
The bodies are made of metal and the door has a new double locking seal to reduce the chances of leaking. They’re all powered by rechargeable Li-ion batteries, has a 2.7-inch anti-reflective, high-contrast LCD display to the rear and are capable of recording full 1080p HD video at 30 fps – on land or underwater.
The XP50 is expected to produce 220 pictures per charge while the top end XP150 and XP100 should churn around 300.
