Canon D20 Waterproof Camera Information, Rumors and Possible Release Date

We have heard some rumors that Canon will be releasing two new cameras in 2012 to replace the Canon D10 Powershot waterproof camera.

The D10 was Canon’s first try at a digital waterproof camera, and it had some technical issues with lens movement.

Since the D10 came out in 2009, there have been many technical improvements in the compact camera class. We think that if a successor does appear, it will be much improved over the current D10.

So, here are certain things we expect to see :-

Expected Model Name: Canon D20 and D30

Expected Release Date: March/April 2012

Expected Spec :

  • CMOS sensor
  • GPS Tagging
  • 720p HD video
  • Upgraded DIGIC 5 processor
  • 3cm macro mode
  • Major ergonomic changes

The two models will have different underwater depth level, just like the Panasonic and Pentax waterproof camera models.

With the 16 Megapixel Nikon AW100 now in the market, Canon could not afford to leave 2012 without D10 replacement.

Stay tuned as we will update this page with new information or rumors when they arrive on our desk.
