The Best & The Worst Waterproof Cameras of 2011
As 2011 is coming to an end, we think it’s good to wrap up our blog with this year’s best and worst performing waterproof cameras.
The Best Waterproof Camera of 2011
Panasonic TS3 & Nikon AW100
Yup. We have a joint winner here.
The sharp pictures and vivid videos of the 12.1 Megapixel Panasonic TS3 are a notch above the old TS2. The seals have also been reinforced and we receive less complain about water leaks. If you don’t mind the erratic GPS, this is certainly the outdoor camera you want Santa to bring this Christmas.
The 16 Megapixel Nikon AW100 has also made an impressive debut. It has a tapping feature like the high end Olympus models (good for gloved hands) and the pictures and HD video is just as good as the Panasonic. But the battery doesn’t last as long. Still, we don’t mind if Santa puts this one in our socks.
The Worst Waterproof Camera of 2011
SeaLife Mini 2 Shock & Sport Camera
If you’re not into underwater photography, you might never heard of this brand. The 9 Megapixel Sealife was supposed to be the best in it’s class. It has a continuous shooting mode and has the highest waterproof depth rating for a compact camera (a whooping 130 feet).
We had great expectation for the Mini 2. After all, Sealife makes awesome underwater cameras. But the pictures and functions from the Mini 2 are similar to waterproof cameras made before 2009.
So, the Mini 2 makes it’s debut our first Hall of Shame waterproof camera list.
